Local hula group to host a night of “Aloha for Maui” at the Conservatory

Aloha for Maui benefit fundraiser

November 18, 2024, 6–9 p.m. EST


Hula Hut will host an evening of “aloha” to raise awareness and funds for those impacted by the tragic fires in Maui, Hawaii on August 8, 2023.


Enjoy island-style entertainment, learn about lei-making, and even participate in a hula! Raise money for the people of Maui and get in on the aloha spirit with fun activities, and a silent auction.


Featured performers include Washburn Entertainment (DJ), Bob Keefe & the Surf Renegades (surf rock and Hawaiian music), Hula Hut (hula dance), Ithaca Ukes (ukulele), and Steven Mana‘oakamai Johnson (cultural presentation), and more.


Snacks and drinks will be available.


All proceeds will be donated to the Hawai'i Community Foundation Maui Strong Fund.

Tickets in advance: $18 donation (plus tax/fee) through Eventbrite

Tickets at the door: $25 donation (cash or Venmo accepted)


All ages are welcome. Limited tickets are available. Donations can also be made directly through Hula Hut's GoFundMe.


The Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts is sponsoring the event and is donating the space rental.

 

Hula Hut is a multicultural dance group dedicated and passionate about supporting, respecting, and advocating on behalf of Polynesian and indigenous cultures through learning and sharing the hula and other Polynesian dance styles.

TOiVO – Spring Forward Community Dance-Party Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm Enfield Valley Grange: 178 Enfield Main Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850 Fundraiser for TCFA General Operations Suggested Donation: $10 (larger donations always welcome) TOIVO, playing traditional social dance music of the Finger Lakes and more, will present a Spring Forward Community Dance-Party Fundraiser for the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts. This fun event will take place at the Enfield Valley Grange on Sunday, March 9, 2025 – when Daylight Savings Time begins. All ages are welcome! TOiVO plays music that is good for dancing and good for listening! Bring a partner or come alone! TOiVO will play an eclectic mix of Scandinavian, Tex-Mex, Cajun, blues, honky-tonk, European, South American, and many original dance tunes. You’ll enjoy waltzes, tangos, two-steps, polkas, schottisches, hambos, foxtrots, and cheek-to-cheek. The players are Richard Koski, button accordion; Jason Koski, mandolin; Stefan Senders, banjo and triangle; Jim Reidy, guitar; Harley Campbell, upright bass; and Annie Campbell, snare drum.
