The Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts announces its 41st Annual Fall Invitational to be held at Forge Cellars on Seneca Lake. The exhibition Beyond the Frame: Pushing the Boundaries of Photography, will begin with an opening reception on October 19, 2025 from 4:30-7:00pm. The exhibition will feature works by Lindsey Glover, Justin Hjortshøj, and Ahmed Salvador. The exhibition is curated by Domenica Brockman and Ariel Bullion and is their third collaborative curatorial project. Arranged thematically across two gallery spaces, the exhibition features new works by these three artists taking photography into a new territory.
Lindsey Glover is an artist working in photography, printmaking, video, and installation.
Her works on paper and projection installations have been shown in Philadelphia, Providence, R.I., Portland, Ore., Jackson Hole, Wyo., and internationally in Germany. As a graduate student at Cornell, she was the recipient of the Margaret Bourke-White Photography Portfolio Prize, a juried award for a photographic portfolio, and the John Hartell Graduate Award for excellence in studio practice. She is a recipient of a Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts fellowship (2019), an Experimental Projects Residency at the Institute of Electronics at Alfred University (2014), and a Ucross Foundation residency (2010). Lindsey’s recent work, including “Canopy” and “First Frost, Fallen Gingko Leaves,” investigates the whimsical elegance of nature using photography to suspend the fleeting quality of light and time while also pushing the confines of the rectangular form.
Justin Hjortshøj studied photography at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, under Bill Burke and at the State University of New York at Purchase, under Gregory Crewdson and Jed Devine. He instructed photography at Elisabeth Irwin High School in NYC for ten years and at the New York State Summer School of the Arts at Ithaca College. This recent series derives from a study of a vintage miniature carnival and train layouts created by an anonymous craftsperson. Images are shot with an 8”x10” view camera and printed in cyanotype.
Ahmed Salvador received his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills and teaches at the Fleisher Art Memorial and serves as an adjunct assistant professor at CUNY. Ahmed has shown his work in various solo and collaborative exhibitions in Philadelphia. Additionally, he has shown at the ViPhotofest in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, and at William Woods University in Missouri. His solo work has been featured in print with Iterant magazine; video work was projected onto the D&F tower in Denver. Collaborative work has been published online with an interview in Alternative Processes, in print with Analog Explorations and was presented at Equinoks, ‘a festival of experimental improvisation’ in Luton, England. Further video work was shown at the Experimental Brazil film festival.
The prints of Ahmed Salvador exist outside of conventional photography because they are not created with a camera, and they cannot be reproduced in multiples. They are singular one-of-kind pieces. Salvador taps into processes that harken back to times prior to the use of “the mechanical” in photography. They come into being through a darkroom alchemy that plays with the tension between miniatures and light diffusions. A landscape is described, a structure is erected, a life is lived, but the presentation of it is elusive.
The annual fundraiser will feature live music provided by Plan Z featuring original compositions treading into jazz, hip-hop, funk, blues, and other freedom-loving genres. The bandleader and primary composer is local drum legend Zaun Marshburn.
Wine and light refreshments will be served.

About the Cayuga Arts Collective
Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts sponsors Cayuga Arts Collective (CayAC) a group of over 100 local artists and crafts people that was founded in 2017 by Domenica Brockman and Marina Delaney. In keeping with the broader mission of TCFA, CayAC aims to build community that both fosters creativity in the arts and promotes cultural enrichment for everyone. The group welcomes emerging and established artists alike.
For a low annual membership of $25 ($20 for students), CayAC members are guaranteed at least one spot in our annual exhibit which serves as the Conservatory’s annual spring show. For the duration of the exhibit, we run a “People’s Choice” Award where everyone is invited to choose their favorite piece on display. First prize is $100.
In addition to inclusion to our spring show, membership to CayAC also grants a 10% discount on all TCFA art classes for adults; inclusion in our booth at TCFA’s annual Holiday Handmade Market; and access to the “Paddle Grant”, a $500 grant designed for the purpose of professional growth in the arts that was initiated in 2021 to mark our 5th anniversary. Online applications to the Paddle Grant will be available again in the fall.
To compliment its member benefits, every October, CayAC hosts the Draw-a-thon Cafe. This event is registered with The Big Draw, an international festival that takes place all over the world throughout the month of October to celebrate the universal language of drawing. The event is free and open to the public. A wide range of drawing materials are always supplied and all skill levels are welcome.
Over the years, CayAC has partnered with a number of organizations including Petrune Gallery, Ithaca Reuse and Ithaca Drawing Group which holds its weekly figure sessions in our downstairs studio. For information on these sessions and much more visit our website
