At the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts, we believe that investing in the arts is investing in our community's future.


For over 41 years, we've been a vibrant hub for creativity in the Finger Lakes region, nurturing artists and bringing people together through the transformative power of art.

Our Capital Campaign has been very successful, and we have raised over $770,000. Construction to restore our beautiful building is underway.

  

Individual donations, grants and fundraising efforts have ranged from $25.00 to over $200,000.


Our Restoration Project includes:

 

  • Restoration of the exterior wood façade, doors and all historic details
  • Fully ADA-compliant outside entrance
  • Construction of an ADA-accessible restroom
  • Renovation of the lobby and main hall interior finishes and lighting
  • Restoration of the original windows
  • Foundation pointing and drainage
  • Safety and sustainability improvements
  • Acoustic treatment to support music, dance, and theatrical performances

About the Campaign:

How much money will the project cost? How much do you need to raise?

The total project is estimated to cost $1.3M. We have committed grants and donations totaling $770,330, including a major capital matching grant from the New York State Council for the Arts (NYSCA) and a matching contribution from the Village of Trumansburg.  TCFA is requesting additional NYSCA funding to complete this project.  Our Close the Gap goal for TCFA fundraising is $153,000.


When will construction begin?

We are projecting to began construction in September of 2024, as our initial fundraising goals were met. 


How long will construction last?

Construction is planned to last 9 to 12 months.


Will the building be closed for the entire length of the project?

Although the auditorium will be closed during construction, we expect to have limited use of the main office, music rooms and downstairs classroom (using the side entrance.) 


Will the dance program and music lessons continue during construction?

All dance classes will be held in the auditorium of the Trumansburg Elementary School Auditorium for the fall and late spring. Interior construction efforts have been halted to accommodate the dance program.
