magnificent private estate on Cayuga Lake - address provided with

registration.

“Pop-up" Art Class @ TCFA! Beginning Drawing from Observation with Jeremy Day Two Wednesday Mornings June 26 & July 3, 9-11am An introduction to traditional methods in drawing from the still life. Students are asked to bring an object or two to contribute to a still life— something that interests you visually. We will make multiple studies of the same subject matter using the plumb line and viewfinder. Students work at their own pace and receive individual advice.  Cost: $75 ( all materials included ). “Shakespeare In The Park”  Saturday, June 29th; 2:30 - 4:30 (performance at 3:00) Admission is free. An afternoon of music, dance, acrobatics, and fun in the TCFA backyard park! Join us for a celebration of summer with a highly abridged version of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, featuring dance, music, and text from the Bard. Admission is free; donations are greatly appreciated. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. TCFA's "Shakespeare in the Park" event is underwritten, in part, by a Community Celebrations Grant from the Tompkins County Tourism Program

Classes available in: Adult Modern Ballet Creative Movement Beginner/Intermediate Combination Class: Ballet, Tap, Acro Intermediate/Advanced Combination Class: Ballet, Acro, Hip Hop Competition Team Rehearsal & Creation PRIVATE LESSONS AVAILABLE $40/half hour, $50/45 minutes, $60/hour Limited availability, please inquire with dance@tburgconservatory.org  Competition Team Rehearsal & Creation Mondays & Wednesdays … 10:30am - 12:30pm July 1 - July 31 (5 weeks, no class 7/17) August 19 - August 28 (2 weeks) Instructor: Samantha Johnson Ages: 10+, or by permission Requirement: soft dance clothes (form-fitting), jazz shoes, turners or ballet shoes Dancers in this class must be interested in and be planning to register for the Junior or Elite Competition Team for the Fall 2024- Spring 2025 dance season. This class is very highly recommended for all competition students, but not required, as we will be starting major preparations for the Fall-Spring competition season. If you are unable to attend certain weeks due to vacation, etc., refunds can be made for the missed classes. Dancers will work on ballet and acro styles for the first half hour of class (alternating) for conditioning and technique. Afterwards, we will build choreography for our Junior/Elite large group routine. Lastly, I will give rehearsal time for all current competition routines. Solo and group improvisation, weight sharing, and lifts will also be practiced to encourage team bonding. Adult Modern Ballet Tuesdays … 9:30am - 10:25am July 2 - July 30 (5 weeks) Instructor: Samantha Johnson Ages: 18+ Requirement: soft athletic clothing, ballet slippers Engage your body and mind, and prepare for a healthy week! All skill levels are welcome. Gentle on the joints, Modern Ballet is healthy exercise for adults of all ages, especially for those looking to strengthen their ankles, legs and core body… as well as gently stretch and mobilize the hips and limbs. Class includes beginner ballet barre work, floor stretches and exercises, modern core body work, center balances, across-the-floor exercises, center choreography, etc. Contemporary choreography and music. Creative Movement Tuesdays … 10:30am - 11:15am July 2 - July 30 (5 weeks) Instructor: Samantha Johnson Ages: 3-5 Requirement: leotard & tights or other form-fitting dance clothes, ballet slippers, hair pulled off the face First level dance for youngest dancers. Students learn many song-dances through play. Basic stretch, balance, rhythm, movement instruction and dance exploration games. Students also begin learning basic beginner ballet movements and postures. Beginner/Intermediate COMBO: Ballet, Tap, Acro Tuesdays … 11:30am - 12:55pm July 2 - July 30 (5 weeks) Instructor: Samantha Johnson Ages: 5+ Requirement: leotard & tights or other form-fitting dance clothes, ballet slippers, tap shoes, hair pulled off the face Students learn basic ballet and tap steps, terminology and combinations. Ballet is a graceful, theatrical art form of unique traditions and techniques, requiring precision, focus, and athleticism. Tap encourages rhythm, grounded movements, and strength. Contemporary and classical styles. Also, an introduction to acro dance stretch, strength, and tumbling. In this class students learn floor acrobatic skills like forward/backword rolls, handstands/headstands, various cartwheels, roundoffs, backbends and beginning walkovers, and trampoline jumps! We also play fun dance exploration games! Intermediate/Advanced COMBO: Ballet, Acro, Hip Hop Tuesdays … 1:00pm - 2:25pm July 2 - July 30 (5 weeks) Instructor: Samantha Johnson Ages: 7+ Requirement: leotard & tights or other form-fitting dance clothes, ballet slippers, hair pulled off the face Students learn basic ballet, acro and hip hop steps, terminology and combinations. Ballet is a graceful, theatrical art form of unique traditions and techniques, requiring precision, focus, and athleticism. We will practice acro dance stretch, strength, and tumbling. Students learn floor acrobatic skills like forward/backword rolls, handstands/headstands, various cartwheels, roundoffs, backbends and beginning walkovers, and trampoline jumps! We also learn intermediate hip hop warm ups, steps, combinations and choreography, including brief histories of steps … popular party dances, choreography and how to improvise/cypher in a dance circle! Street dance styles, including basic beginner breaking, primarily to hip hop and pop music. “Old school” and “new school” variations.
