Thanks to the generosity of Steven Daly of Ithaca Vintage and of the Finger Lakes Estate and Auction Co., as well as several generous donors, an auction on behalf of the Trumansburg Conservatory will be held this weekend, Saturday, November 5, 2pm, at the auction house (see below). Included in the sale items will be nearly 20 original paintings, large and small, by the late Dorothy Hoyt Dillingham. Ms. Dillingham, who grew up in the Forest Home area in Ithaca, had a very long, prolific career, and her work was shown at galleries around the world. Her first one-person show was in New York City, in 1947. She was married to Howard Dillingham, president of Ithaca College, and helped in the shaping of the young school.
In addition to the Dillingham paintings, donated work to be sold in the auction includes a handmade iron wood rack, complete with a face cord of wood, a silver tea set and more.
NOTE that the auction is at the Finger Lakes Estate & Auction house, 478 Lower Creek Road in Ithaca, NOT at TCFA.
