A fresh pansy print!

For this unusual art class—“Pound It Out! A Flower Print & Bookbinding Workshop”—natural-dyeing specialist and textile artist Sarah Gotowka and book arts expert Laura Rowley will join forces to teach printing with natural materials, then use the fabric result to cover a handmade notebook participants can take home. The class is open to ages 8 and up; youngsters 8 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults on their own will find the class is not just for children.
Sarah will provide home-grown and locally harvested flowers and plant material, and demonstrate the method of making flower prints on cloth. Laura will teach basic bookbinding techniques to complete the notebook.
Registration for the workshop is extended thru August 11. Please use the sign-up form here; mark the “Group Lessons” line. The form can be mailed, with payment, or dropped off at TCFA. The cost is $40 with all materials included; for parent-child pairs, the cost is the same, but such pairs will produce only a single book. Participants can bring flowers from home if they wish, but all students should bring their own hammers.
