This summer, TCFA will welcome young instrumentalists to the first Summer Bandland workshop, Mon-Fri, July 11 thru 15, under the direction of Hope Lewis, who teaches high school instrumental music and elementary chorus in Trumanburg schools.bandland logo 7.16 Bandland is open to students 11 to 13, who have played their band instruments for at least two years. The workshop will go on 9am to 4pm each day.
As well as rehearsals for a culminating concert performance on Friday evening, July 15, the workshop will include activities to develop the musicians’ independent musical skills in a group setting. Among these will be aural (listening/singing/movement, playing by ear); reading (rhythm, scales, sight-reading tips, playing band music/small ensemble music); and ensemble playing thru band rehearsals and small groups.
Students will bring their own instruments; TCFA will provide percussion. Thru Thursday, June 23, the Bandland fee is $240 (for TCFA members, $225); from June 24 thru July 1, $255 (TCFA members, $240). Registration closes Friday, July 1. Click here for the two-page registration form.
