April is National Poetry Month! In celebration, TCFA is excited to welcome noted Ithaca poet Mary Gilliland, with a
two-part event.Gilliland photo
Saturday afternoon, 1:30-3:30, Mary will offer “Writing from the Heart: A workshop for all ages and all levels of writing experience.” Mary says, “Joy, grief, fear, serenity, disappointment, outrage—like pressure points on the human body, these feelings can be triggers for writing that moves an audience.” The workshop will be concerned with memory and its associations, with how an experience grows over time. Participants will work with various writing exercises and, if time allows, with voluntary sharing and feedback. Space is limited; please call 387-3717 or e-mail corivogel@gmail.com to register. The workshop fee is $10.
At 4pm, TCFA will present “Body Talkin’ Poetry: A reading by Mary Gilliland.” She really does write about the birds and the bees! And the dolphins! And the cows! And the lovely physical contraption where our spirit dwells. Admission to the reading is free—donations gratefully accepted!
