Two of TCFA’s most gifted associates, Nicholas Walker, double-bass virtuoso, and Bill Gregg, long-term guitar instructor at TCFA and local composer, are putting their talents on line to benefit the conservatory.
Nicholas Walker, collaborating with MT & i3° (that’s pronounced “Emp-ty & 13 Degrees), will present a jazz concert on Friday, November 14, 7pm. The performance will focus on improvisations built on the music from the Disney film, Frozen. While not specifically aimed at youngsters, this material will welcome those who do attend. The players include Mike Titlebaum, saxophone; Nick Weiser, piano; Greg Evans, drums; and Mr. Walker himself on bass.
On Sunday, November 16, 3pm, Bill Gregg will present LIFT! a concert of original compositions for classical guitar—music designed to raise both spirits and funds! With Mr. Gregg’s student, Cole Vermillera, opening, the performance will include music that blends blues, jazz, folk and classical influences, and also a computer-guitar piece from Mr. Gregg’s latest CD, Epiphenomenon.
Both concerts are free, with audiences encouraged to donate to the current TCFA matching fund drive.
