TCFA is very happy to present Nicholas Walker, upright double-bass NW Headshot Berlinvirtuoso, in a solo recital on Saturday afternoon, September 6, 4pm. Admission is free. Mr. Walker is the Ithaca College professor of double bass, and his featured piece will be a three-movement concerto written for him by Dana Wilson. Inspiration for this work comes from poems by Walt Whitman, resulting in a soulful, jubilant and groovy showcase for the double bass, with many engaging melodies. Mr. Walker says that families will especially enjoy this work.
The program will also feature works by Tchaikovsky, Massenet, and Bridge, as well as some early Scottish folk songs by Oswald and an original composition by Mr. Walker. Featured at the conservatory grand piano will be Ithaca College faculty pianist, Nick Weiser.
